Youthful Voices
Youth have always had an important role in designing the future. But now, more than any other time in our history, projects designed and managed by youth are changing society.
A cursury look at the website Do It Now, reveals a number of projects across the nation that kids have put together that have engaged thousands of people. These are communty and social service projects that help real people and establish models that are replicable in many towns. There are fundraising strategies, communication networks, community garden farm stands, interactive and simulation gaming.
At the Grange, the youth perform in events put on by schools, music/art academies and theater groups. Their fine talent often includes a social message and reveals that they have been paying attention to the condition of world that is being left to them.
When not in the limelight, Youth are involved as "Cooks" at Grange breakfasts, "Volunteers" at work days and "Donors" to auctions at fundraisers.
We invite youth to talk with us about a program or a project they have in mind. You may want to organize a one time event or start a group where other youth like yourselves can do some fun activites.
The more we spend time together, we might convince you to serve on a committee or hold an elected office. But that is just a hope.
