Progressive Granges Discussions
Progressive Granges in California
Talk to a number of Granges around the state to see what they are working on. These Granges below reflect a progressive agenda, expanded programming and unique relationships to their communities.
Some rent to a variety of local nonprofits, or sponsor diverse programs of lectures, music and dance. Many Granges now integrate operational practices that are more sustainable including recycling programs, composting and alternative energy fixtures.
The Grange Movement after the Civil War was a way to elevate farmers up to the middle class. Now, Progressive Granges across California are defining a new agenda. They are fostering sustainable agriculture that understands that water for farms cannot be at the expense of fisheries. We also share some common goals of supporting historic preservation, alternative energy, building community, consensus problem-solving, folk music, healthy food, and conversation. How can we support you? Invite us for talks, visits, mentoring, or partnerships in this new era of sustainability and community building. The Change is the Grange.
